On July 31, 2007, a tea party was organized for the 165 visually impaired girls at the Kamla Mehta Dadar School for the Blind. The event started off with a prayer service, where some of the visually impaired girls with the most melodious voices sang hymns and indulged the rest of the children to do the same. This was followed by a tea party, where the children merrily ate the mouth watering snacks served and finished off with some delicious chocolate and drinks. We had organized games for the children and started off with a game of Musical Chairs. Prior to the game we wondered how successful this endeavour would be with their limited vision, but we were not only pleasantly surprised, but also participated in the game. There was hectic activity and voila, we had a winner. This was followed by games of Passing the Parcel and Passing the Ball for children who were much younger. We had two proud winners for these games followed by music and dance where we witnessed all the children, irrespective of their age, swaying to the music. The Prize distribution took place after this where all the girls cheered with spontaneity after which they gathered for a group photograph with the gifts that each one of them received from Welspun. |
